This and That

CELTICS

Tonight the Celts kick off preseason action at 8:30 on CSN taking on the Houston Rockets. We know how the starting five will look, so I will be specifically looking at the bench tonight.

-How will Sheed play off the bench? How will he play next to Big Baby?
-Will Marquis be playing the backup point or backing up Pierce?
-I am specifiaclly looking forward to seeing second round pick Lester Hudson play. Keep an eye on the rook.
-What can Tony Allen show us?
-Second year player JR Giddens was very raw at times last preseason and season. How will he look in his first game action of this year?

The Celtics are back! Atleast it gives us something to tide us over until the Red Sox tomorrow.

PATRIOTS

-The latest report has Seau joining the Patriots next week.
-Randy Moss and Fred Taylor were not at practice today. Taylor left the game on Sunday and was being tended to on the bench.
-After Prescott Burgess was signed off of the Patriots practice squad Tuesday, the Patriots filled the void with LB Bruce Davis. The second year player out of UCLA was drafted by the Steelers, but was cut when he was unable to convert from a college defensive end to an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. The Pats will try and develop those skills on their practice squad.

RED SOX

-Delcarmen threw a successful bullpen session today. Should be interesting to see if he is on the roster when it is released tomorrow.
-Okajima who last appeared in a game on September 30th, is recovering from an oblique injury. Pitching coach John Farrell says he will be raady for game action.
-A complete preview of the series will be posted this evening.

BRUINS

- This morning GM Peter Chiarelli held a press conference discussing the recent contract extension of LW Milan Lucic. The Bruins inked Looch to a 3 year extension worth up to around 4 million/year. At only 21 years old, Lucic is considered one of the toughest players in the league. Last season, Milan scored 17 goals (17-24-42) and recorded 136 penalty minutes. With the ability to score, pass, and get physical, makes #17 an impact player. Every time he touches the ice there's a chance for a goal, big hit, or fight. This versatile style of play is what makes Lucic so valuable in the playoffs.
-C David Krejci signed a 3 year extension this summer, expect Lucic and Krejci to be franchise players in upcoming years for Boston.

  1. Great that Delcarmen threw successfully today. Really bad luck to get into a car accident just before the playoffs. Hope he'll be in top shape soon. DA
