Bruins Win Another OT Showdown
The Bruins won an outstanding matchup against the Buffalo Sabres tonight by a score of 2-1. Playing in yet another overtime thriller, the Bruins remained resilient and were aided by the play of star winger Milan Lucic, who scored his first goal of the year in his second game back from a broken finger.
After playing a back and forth game for most of the night with the score tied at 1-1, the five minute OT period lasted just 47 seconds. That's all the time stud center Patrice Bergeron needed to net the game winner (his 7th goal of the year). Berg continues to play brilliantly for the B's as one of the more consistent contributors after most had forgotten about his big play ability due to a couple of down years. The 24 year old center from Quebec is on pace for one of his best seasons yet, registering 14 points through 22 games.
G Tuukka Rask continues to show why many consider him to be the B's goaltender of the future. Making yet another start over Tim Thomas tonight, Rask was brilliant yet again, allowing just one goal to go by him, turning away 25 of the 26 shots that he faced. The young netminder even registered an assist tonight on Lucic's goal! Rask is making a lot of people wonder why the B's were so desperate to lock up Thomas after he posted just one good season (last year). The 10-8-4 Bruins now take their two game winning streak west to play at St. Louis on Monday night against Paul Kariya and the Blues.
Three Stars of the Game: 1) Milan Lucic 2) Paul Gaustad (BUF) 3) Tuukka Rask
