Bruins Destroy Maple Leafs 7-2

Savard enjoyed a big night.

After getting embarrassed in their last game, the Bruins came out aggressively and never looked back. Behind the unbelievable play of Marc Savard, the Bruins rolled over the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 7-2. The offensive leader netted a hat trick tonight in front of the home crowd as the Bruins righted the ship.

The team played much better on the power play tonight, registering 2 goals (Recchi, Savard) and enjoyed solid production from Bergeron (2 assists) as well as G Tuukka Rask. The young goalie played impressively yet again this evening spelling Tim Thomas after he played last night. Rask turned aside 31 of 33 shots while increasing his record to 8-2-2 on the year. The Bruins will look to continue to ride his hot goaltending as long as they continue to win with Rask between the pipes. Marco Sturm also continued his solid play tonight as he netted his 9th goal.

Savy's new contract seems to have motivated him the last couple of games as he's truly playing inspired hockey. The Bruins will need his leadership and playmaking ability if they're going to maintain success over the rest of the season. The team also received goals from defensive leader Zdeno Chara as well as youngster Johnny Boychuck in his return to the lineup. It was only Chara's second goal of the season, and he is a long way from his 19 goals from last season.

Three Stars of the Game: 1) Marc Savard 2) Patrice Bergeron 3) Tuukka Rask

The Bruins don't play until Thursday night when they will once again host the Toronto Maple Leafs and look to make it two straight wins against them.
