Celtics Control the Spurs

The Celtics D continues to improve.

The Celtics, led by Rajon Rondo, went into the Alamo tonight and handled the Spurs 90-83. Rondo's speed and ability to find the open space on the floor against the aging Spurs created opportunities for everyone on the floor.
  • Rondo had 12 points (6-11 shooting), 6 rebounds, 12 assists (3 turnovers), 3 steals, and a block. He continues to be very spotty with his jumper, missing a few open jumpers, but he was a team high +19 when on the floor in 36 minutes.
  • Kevin Garnett continues his torrid pace with 20 points (9-15 FGs), 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and no turnovers. He looks much more fluid on the floor and as healthy as ever.
  • Paul Pierce (8 points) and Ray Allen (6-15 shooting, 0-4 from downtown) each had an off night tonight. This is the second straight game that Pierce has had 8 points, so let's hope he breaks out of his scoring funk soon.
  • Sheed had 13 points, drained 2 threes, and was very efficient on the offensive end tonight. Even better was his defensive presence; he blocked 4 shots! Best of all was that Sheed did not pick up the dreaded technical tonight.
  • Brian Scalabrine backed up Garnett tonight over Shelden Williams which created an interesting match-up between two tall white red-heads (Matt Bonner for San Antonio)
  • The Celtics' woes from beyond the arc continue (4-18), but luckily the Spurs only hit 2 of their 16 tries.
The 15-4 Celtics continue to role of late, winning their last six games and head to the young and up-in-coming Oklahoma City Thunder (10-8) tonight. OKC has won three of their last four games and are led by the talented youngster Kevin Durant who is an emerging superstar in just his third season.
