Celtics Win Again, Thomas Starts Bruins Lose

The Grizzlies, playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, gave the Celtics everything they had but the Celts pulled away at the end for a 110-105 en route to their 11th straight win. Another well balanced attack (six players between 13 and 19 points) and one huge three pointer from Ray Allen as time wound down led the C's to a league best road record of 12-1.
  • Paul Pierce led the way with 19 points, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. He nailed all of his 3 threes and was very reliable tonight.
  • Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo each chipped in with 18 points. Ray Ray nailed 5 of 6 threes while adding 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Rondo had 9 assists (4 turnovers) and shot 8 of 12 from the floor.
  • Perkins and Garnett had 13 points apiece, while Sheed hit 6 of his 15 shots (1 of 6 from three) on his way to 15 points.
  • Eddie House and Tony Allen each played well off the bench tonight. Doc Rivers did a good job of matching Rondo and one of Pierce or Allen with the bench tonight and they appeared to be very effective.
  • The C's hit 10 of their 20 threes tonight which was the difference in the game. They also held the Grizzlies to a measly 1 of 13 from beyond the arc.
The Celtics end their stretch of 7 of 8 games on the road without a blemish and head home for a three game home-stand. Allen Iverson, Andre Iguodala and the Sixers come to town for a rematch of the Friday night game in which they battled the Celtics the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (a Celtics 113-110 win).

In a preview of the ensuing Winter Classic, the Bruins were downed by the Philadelphia Flyers tonight 3-1. Despite taking a 1-0 lead on a Vladimir Sobotka goal (his third of the season), Tim Thomas and the B's gave it up in 3rd period.
  • Thomas is 0-2-1 in his last three starts and the Bruins need to consider giving Tuukka Rask more starts in net; Rask is 6-0-1 in his last seven starts.
  • Dennis Wideman left the game in the second period and did not return with an undisclosed injury.
  • There was a lot of jawing tonight which is a great precursor to the game in Fenway in 3 1/2 weeks.
The Bruins head to Chicago for an intriguing Friday night face-off with the 20-8-3 Chicago Blackhawks who are 3rd in the Western Conference.
