Finally a Win

Not another injury.

So this is how it feels to win. After three demoralizing losses and losing 11 of 17, the Celtics got back on track tonight. Yes, it was against the lowly Bullets (I mean Wizards), but we'll take it.

Before we recap the W, a real concern in this game is the status of Paul Pierce's ankle. He went down hard in the first quarter when Caron Butler fell directly on his leg. The Truth would leave the game only to have another collision with Butler at the end of the half. After returning for the third quarter, Pierce did not see any action in the fourth. Lets keep our fingures crossed that the ankle is OK.

After struggling much of the game, the C's outscored Washington 25-10 in the fourth for a 99-88 victory. The C's stayed consistent all game hitting 55% of their shots, while holding Washington to 39% and 1 of 10 from three point land. Here's some player analysis:
  • Kevin Garnett played his best game since returning from his knee injury. KG dropped 19 points and was efficient hitting 8 of 9 shots, while sprinkling in some jumpers that he'd recently been missing. In 32 minutes he added 6 boards, 3 assists, and a steal.
  • Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen each chipped in 17 points. Rondo did it on 6 of 9 shooting (5-8 from the line) while chipping in 12 assists (6 turnovers) and Ray hit 6 of 13 shots (2 threes).
  • Pierce had 12 points and 8 boards before exiting the game.
  • Kendrick Perkins 9 points, 3 boards, and 2 blocks in 26 minutes saw Rasheed Wallace take some of his minutes away down the stretch. Sheed had a good game, 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks.
  • Tony Allen continues to play solid minutes off of the bench for the C's with the absence of Marquis Daniels. TA had 10 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, a steal, and a block. What happens to him when Daniels returns?
The 30-16 Celtics hope to stay on the winning track with a home game against the Heat on Wednesday night.

  1. thank god. a 4th quarter that we didn't run out of gas. the wiz are by no means a contender and even battling with them worries me.
