Savard Carted Off
Marc Savard was badly blindsided this afternoon when Penguins winger Matt Cooke elbowed the center in the head after a pass across the ice. Savard went down instantly and lost consciousness for a bit before waving to the crowd as he was carted off with his neck immobilized. Savard suffered a concussion and is expected to miss some time.
To the chagrin of many Bruins fans, Cooke was not assessed a penalty for the malicious hit and the Bruins seem to have been been a bit deflated after their leader went down. The Bruins went on to lose the game 2-1, and will struggle mightily to put points up with the veteran sidelined.
