Patriots - Bills Preview

Patriots vs. Bills
Monday 7:00 PM ESPN
Patriots -11, 47.5 o/u

History:

We all remember the opening game of the 2003 season. The Patriots took on the Bills having just cut Lawyer Milloy, and the team was not ready. They went on to lose 31-0 that game, but they have not lost to the Bills in 11 meetings since then.

The Oponent: Bills Notes

-T.O. was already talking shit this week about the Patriots and their spy cameras. Not a smart move T.O., that's perfect bulletin board material for the master motivator Belichick.
-Deep ball threat Lee Evans benefits from the addition of T.O., and will be seeing less double coverage.
-Marshawn Lynch, the Bills starting RB, will not play be playing opening night. The third year RB is suspended the first three games of the season for off the field issues. Fred Jackson and Dominic Rhodes should do the majority of the running.
-The Bills will have three starters going on the O-line that have never played an offensive snap. Two rookies and a second year player will be tested for the first time on Monday night.
-The Bills special teams is renowned as one of the best in the league with K Ryan Lindell, P Brian Moorman, and return men Roscoe Parrish, Terrance McGee, and Leodis McKelvin.

What the Patriots Need to do to Win

-The Patriots new corner backs will be tested. Leigh Bodden, Shawn Springs, and Darius Butler will be going against two good WRs. It will be interesting to see who lines up where.
-The team needs to get pressure on the QB. The defensive ends and outside linebackers will have an opportunity for a good tune-up against the Bills' virgin line.
-Brady and the offense will get a chance to air it out for real. It will be exciting to see TB in real action again.
-We can win without running the ball; we proved that two years ago. Running the ball will help though, so lets see who will find the holes and get the ground game going.
-Myron Pryor and Matthew Slater are the only two Patriots that did not practice Friday. Limited participants included Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Sammy Morris, Shawn Springs, and Terrance Wheatley.

Bottom Line:

Opening night at home, it's primetime, and we're not hanging a banner. The Patriots are hungry and Belichick will stop at nothing for 60 minutes Monday night.

I will repost this on Monday for you avid readers who will see this again.

  1. What is ironic about that 31-0 lost is that on the last game of the season that year the patriots won 31-0, and belichick even brought defensive starters back into the game on the last series deep in the redzone to preserve the shutout. Love BB
