Patriots News

The Patriots did not play one starter in the 38-27 win last night. Against the Giants first team starters, the Patriots quickly went down 21-0. Rookie QB Brad Hoyer (18-25, 242 yards, TD) throwing well and RB BenJarvis Green-Ellis (29 attempts, 125 yards, 3 TDs) running hard led the comeback.

NOTES:

-The Patriots made a flurry of personnel moves releasing QB Andrew Walter, C/G Billy Yates, LB Vinny Ciurciu, WR Robert Ortiz, S Roderick Rogers, and DL Stephen Williams. With Walter gone, Hoyer is the only QB left behind Tom Brady following the departures of Kevin O'Connel and Matt Gutierrez. Names out there that may be available: Tavarris Jackson (MIN), AJ Feely (PHI), and old friend Damon Huard (FA). Any other names you can think of? Yates has been on and off the team for years and has even started games as recently as last year. If no one picks him up expect him to be on the Patriots' speed dial if they need him.
-The roster needs to be down to 53 by tomorrow at 4PM. By my count they have 66 players right now left on the active roster.
-Look for the Patriots to be active on the waiver wire and trading for a QB and/or a backup center.
