The most important signing the Boston Bruins organization made this past summer was the contract-extension of David Krejci. GM Peter Chiarelli inked the center for 3 years at $3.75million a year. In his second year Krejci was one of the hottest players in the league and the Bruins have extremely high expectations for the Czech Republic center. Krejci tallied 73 points last season and some of his success can be attributed to his wings Michael Ryder & Blake Wheeler.
David Krejci C – In his second year Krejci is listed as Probable for Thursday night’s opener vs. Alexander Ovechkin & the Washington Capitals. Krejci is a playmaker and he knows his job is to set up goals.
Blake Wheeler LW – After a successful rookie season, the 23-year old out of Minnesota has reportedly put on 10-15 lbs of weight to enhance his physical play. The Bruins express the importance of having a Power forward-Playmaker-Shooter; it is a strategy and system of hockey that works in Boston. Blake Wheeler is still going to be able to dangle around defensemen throughout the league and if I were them I would think twice about going into the corner with him.
Michael Ryder RW – Ryder was picked up two summers ago coming from the beloved Montreal Canadians. Ryder, a previous 40 goal scorer, wants to exceed that plateau again after producing only 27 goals for the Bruins last season. Ryder took some time to get into a groove last season but every shot served as a scoring opportunity. He joined the first powerplay group towards the end of last season, so look for him to be a go-to shot with a man-advantage.
