Sox Take Both Games Against the O's

Victor Martinez
stepped up to the plate in the seventh inning of a tie game with the bases loaded. The first pitch he saw was rifled into the left-center gap that plated all three runners to give the Sox the seven runs they'd need. Jason Bay collected three hits, while Pedroia, Youk, Ortiz, and Tek each had two.

Paul Byrd started the game and pitched serviceable, but his line indicates he won't be able to keep it up. Over five innings he gave up six hits, walked three, gave up two runs and struck out one. He is hittable still, and like I said before, he is not missing bats. For now, he is eating innings and has kept us in games in two of his three starts. Delcarmen came in and blew the game in the sixth before V-Mart later bailed him out. Ramirez, Wagner, Bard, and Papelbon finished off the game as Wags got the W and Paps earned his 35th save.

MORE:

-The Sox are 13-2 against the Orioles.
-Texas won. We're two games up.
-The Sox have tomorrow off before a three game set with Tampa this weekend.
-Dice-K allowed one run over 6 1/3 innings tonight at Single-A Salem. Even better, he struck out seven and only walked one while scattering three hits. He should get a start with the big club next week. Maybe we can catch lightning in a bottle.
