Celtics Spoil Cavs Home Opener

The C's are back

The Celtics began operation green 18 tonight in Cleveland against the Lebron led Cavaliers. The team went down 13-2 in the first quarter but after a good Doc Rivers timeout the Celtics finally arrived. When the first quarter was all said and done the C's were trailing by 28-21.

The Celtics went on to outscore Cleveland 30-17 in the second quarter, nailing three after three (9-19 in the game) as the Celtics bench outscored the Cavs' reserves (26 to 10 in the game). Heading into the locker room the C's were up 51-45 and they would never look back.

The Cavs made a push in the fourth, but who other than Paul Pierce stepped up by nailing jumpers and free throws. Despite LeBron's best efforts (38-4-8), the C's finished off the Cavs 95-89.

NOTES:
  • The Truth drained 23 points (6-13 FGs, 2-5 3PTs, 9-10 FTs) and added a team high 11 rebounds.
  • Kevin Garnett played a solid game tonight posting 13 points, 10 boards, and three blocks in 33 minutes.
  • Ray Allen played a team high 42 minutes and had 16 points (5-16 shooting with two threes). He missed a free throw as well after only missing 12 all of last season.
  • Rajon Rondo is a boss. The contract-hungry PG had 8 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. He was also an efficient 4-8 from the floor and looked good shooting the outside jump shot.
  • Sheed hit 3 threes off the bench and added 12 points. He finished off the last four minutes over Perkins who had a quiet game. Wallace was also big on the defensive side blocking two shots.
  • Marquis played a solid 17.5 minutes and was a team high +11 while on the court.
  • The Celtics played 9 men tonight leaving either Pierce or Allen on the court at all times.
1 down, 81 to go. Nice road win tonight.

The Celtics play their home opener tomorrow night versus the Bobcats at 7:30 PM.
