CELTICS
The Celtics dropped their first preseason game last night 96-90. The score doesn't really as much as this:
-The starers looked good in the first half. Rondo was a bit wild (three assists/4 turnovers), but the rest of the unit was dominant against a weak Rockets squad. They came out a bit flat in the second half
-Rondo played the most minutes of the starters with 17.
-KG wetted two 18-foot jumpers in the first quarter and finished with six points, four rebounds, and two steals. He'll be fine.
-Ray Ray and Pierce each had eight points and each missed their two 3-point attempts.
-Sheed was the first man off the bench and he replaced Perkins. It was cool to see Wallace play next to Garnett. He finished with a six points (1/3 from downtown), two rebounds, three blocks, and a technical.
-Marquis Daniels, our free agent acquisition via the Pacers, had seven points, five assists, and three rebounds. He air-balled his first shot, but after that he was spot on. The slashing Daniels continuously drove into the lane and either popped a little jumper or dished it off. Think of a taller, smarter Tony Allen (who was a DNP).
-A slimmer Baby had had nine points (3-4 FGs, 3-4 FTs), four rebounds, two steals, a block, and no turnovers.
-Rookie Lester Hudson, who I have been hyping up, had nine points, but he showed poor D and turned it over three times.
-Shelden Williams had five rebounds. It appears that he will be used sparingly playing behind Sheed and Baby on the bench.
-Next up, the Knicks on Friday at 7:30 on CSN in Boston. Good preview before the Sox game!
BRUINS
The Bruins take on the Ducks (0-1) tonight at 7 in Boston. Anaheim was a playoff team in the west last year, and added former Montreal Canadian Saku Koivu. The B's is to play physical and execute on the power play which is always a key for success.
