Happy Trails Chuck Kobasew

Last night the Bruins traded RW Chuck Kobasew to the Minnesota Wild for Craig Weller, prospect Alexander Fallstrom, and a 2011 2nd round draft pick.

It was clear something had to change and a roster move was inevitable. Craig Weller has never established himself as an NHL player, and brings mostly depth and toughness to the bench. Alexander Fallstrom was a 4th rounder in this last year's draft, and the Bruins have reportedly been scouting and monitoring him closely while he plays locally at Harvard.

In other news:

-The Boston Bruins announced that enforcer Milan Lucic will be out 4-6 weeks with a broken finger. Lucic was already placed on the LTIR and it looks like he'll have his finger surgically repaired. The team will look to its younger players such as #61 RW Byron Bitz while Lucic is on the shelf.

-Dennis Wideman practiced for the first time this morning after suffering a shoulder injury vs. the NY Islanders. Wideman did not travel with the team this weekend and said he could play Wednesday against Nashville. The Bruins were 1/3 on the power play this weekend and need Wideman back in the lineup.

-Kobasew finished last season with 21 goals and 21 assists, totaling 42 points. The Bruins cleared $2.3 million off the books by trading him to the Wild, setting themselves up with a little more cap flexibility for future in-season moves.

****The B's host the Nashville Predators Wednesday at 7:00PM inside the TD Garden.
