Lester Cruises in Tune-up for Playoffs
Jon Lester showed tonight that the liner he took off his leg against the Yankees last week is not lingering. The lefty held the Indians to two hits and a walk in 6 2/3 innings while striking out seven. Lester finishes the regular season with 15 wins, a 3.41 ERA and 225 Ks. Bard, Wagner, and Paps each got some work in to finish off the shutout. Youk's sac-fly in the first was enough, but Ortiz and Bay each added RBI singles.
Notes:
-Jacoby finished the night with three hits and stole his 68th bag of the year. Amazingly, he has only been caught 11 times.
-Lowell finished 1-4 in his return to the lineup.
-Gathright who was replacing JD Drew tonight (sore shoulder) was pinch-hit for by Baldelli during the game.
Check back tomorrow for a Patriots vs. Ravens preview.
