Yes....you read that right. The Patriots cut both LBs and then resigned them.
Why you may ask?
By releasing both Tully Banta-Cain and Eric Alexander before today's 4:00PM trade deadline both players did not have to go through waivers and became unrestricted free agents. Their contracts were subsequently terminated. Clearly there was an understanding between the two parties to than come back and sign new contracts with team.

The Patriots now have the flexibility to add rookie WR/KR Brandon Tate and OT Mark LeVoir back to the active roster from the PUP. The team technically has 21 days to add them to the roster, but both players practiced today and it appears they are almost ready to come back.
