A now healthy Boston squad looked very strong last night and have now won three straight. Young G Tuukka Rask received another start between the pipes as G Tim Thomas continues to recover from an undisclosed injury. Rask was brilliant once again last night, stopping 29 of 31 shots against him including an incredible 16 saves in the first period. It was good to see the Bruins stay on top last night once they gained the advantage on the scoreboard; it was the first time all season they demonstrated the ability to maintain a lead.
It's no surprise that the win streak has correlated with the return of winger Milan Lucic. Luc scored the go-ahead goal in the 2nd period and it seems that every time he's on the ice good things happen for the team. Marco Sturm, Blake Wheeler, and Mark Recchi scored the other three goals for the B's.
The team got their leader back on the ice last night as Marc Savard returned from his 15 game absence due to a broken left food. He did not register a shot but did have over 16 minutes of ice time in his return.
Three Stars of the Game: 1) Patrice Bergeron 2) Milan Lucic 3) Carlo Colaiacovo (StL)
The suddenly streaking Bruins are now 11-8-4 and will take on the Wild in Minnesota Wednesday night at 8:00.
Note:
- Since the team acquired Daniel Paille the Penalty Kill has remarkably improved. The Bruins have killed an incredible 94% (47/50) of penalties.
