B's Lose 1-0 in Shootout

The Bruins came away with another tough loss last night, and although they gained a point in the standings, continue to have trouble getting on score sheet. Tim Thomas made a few spectacular saves last night, including another paddle down Thomas special, saving the puck right as it was approaching the red line of the goal, but quickly batted it away. The B's continue to be frustrated on the offensive end, outshooting the Panthers 40-23 but just couldn't seem to buy a goal against Vokoun. Although Thomas played brilliantly, opposing netminder Tomas Vokoun was unstoppable.

The B's looked solid throughout the game and killed a 5-on-3 extremely well with the help of center Patrice Bergeron, who has been an animal on the PK of late. In the second, the Bruins would out-shoot Florida 19-1 without putting one in the net (WOW!). Fourth line banger Scott Thornton got into a fight to try and inject some life into a B's team that sorely needs a lift.

The Bruins have already been in 5 shootouts this season due to their inability to convert on scoring opportunities in regulation, but have only come out on top twice so far. Sadly, the B's are an inconsistent, unpredictable team right now, trading wins and losses every night. They could be the most talented team in the NHL that doesn't score goals, which unfortunately for the team, does not translate into wins.

SHOOTOUT: BRUINS - 1) Blake Wheeler 2) Patrice Bergeron 3) Zdeno Chara 4) Michael Ryder

FLORIDA - 1) Reinprecht 2) Olesz 3) Weiss 4) Stillman (Game Winning Goal)

Three Stars of the Game: 1) Tomas Vokoun 2) Tim Thomas 3) Cory Stillman

Notes:
  • Shawn Thornton said after the game that Tim Thomas is not to blame, as he is doing literally everything possible to give the team a chance to win night in and not out while the offense remains stagnant.
  • Star winger Milan Lucic enjoyed practicing for the first time with his teammates since his broken finger on October 16th but was not active for the game. He is officially listed as day-to-day and is expected back in the near future.
