Celtics Drop Second Game of the Season

The Celtics lost a tough game tonight 97-86 to a young talented Hawks team who were clicking on all cylinders. Similarly to when the C's went down to the Suns last week, the team failed to convert on a lot of opportunities both on the glass and from beyond the arc, as they let Atlanta dictate the game-play:
  • The C's shot a pathetic 1-15 from downtown tonight.
  • Atlanta's pick and roll offense shredded the Celtics defense all night tonight .
  • Atlanta got to the line 12 times in the final quarter compared to the Celtics 3 opportunities.
  • Atlanta out-rebounded the C's 47 to 29. What killed them even more was the 16 to 6 edge on the offensive end as the Hawks continued to get second chance points.
  • Rondo looked a bit sluggish tonight. His D appeared to be shoddy, and he didn't look in sync like he normally is on the offensive end.
Pierce, who went to the locker room briefly in the 3rd quarter after bruising his knee, was the team's high scorer with 24 points. It wasn't enough though as the team in general couldn't keep up with the athletic Hawks in the second half. The 8-2 Celtics, like the Patriots, head to Indianapolis for a tilt with the well rested Pacers team tomorrow evening that has won three games in a row.
