Bruins Fight, Fight, Fight, but Lose

Tough night for the B's. After coming back from one goal deficits three times, the Bruins couldn't handle the scorching hot Chicago Blackhawks in a game that saw a lot of offense. Losing 5-4 in a shootout, the B's were able to pick up a point, but were obviously over-matched by the now 22-8-3 Blackhawks who are first in the Western Conference. Poor defense, and a lack of execution on both ends of the ice in the shootout resulted a loss.
  • Tim Thomas stopped 40 of the 44 shots he saw, and continues to be associated with the B's losing. Tonight he had a tough time, as the D let him down in the second period when two point-blank shots were fired on him for goals. He also admitted to his timing being off during the shootout where he gave up two goals on the only two shots he saw.
  • David Krejci (two goals in the game), Daniel Paille, and Johnny Boychuk all scored game tying goals for the Bruins as they held around all night after being up 1-0. Krejci's second goal with 2:43 left send the game into OT.
  • Patrice Bergeron and Blake Wheeler could not convert their shootout attempts and the shootout was done after just two rounds.
  • Bergeron and Mark Recchi each had two assists on the night.
The Bruins continue to battle and claw their way through games, picking up points when they can. With Lucic out with an ankle injury, the Bruins will continue to go with what they got. At 39 points, the Bruins are currently 6th in the Eastern Conference and 5 points back of Buffalo in the Northeast Division (and third in the conference). Quick turnaround for the B's, as they play the reeling Maple Leafs for the third time in three weeks tonight. In the two previous games the Bruins have won 7-2 and 5-2.
