Bruins Blow Early Lead

Another Bruin down.

The Bruins jumped out to an early lead last night 2-0 in the first eight minutes of the game. A powerplay goal by Blake Wheeler (11) and a goal by newly acquired Miroslav Satan (1) had the B's up, but not for long. The quick and talented Blackhawks outplayed the B's the rest of the way scoring two goals to finish off the first to tie the game. Two goals in the second, and a goal in the third gave Chicago a decisive 5-2 win in Boston.

Tim Thomas started in net but was highly ineffective on the night. He only stopped 20 of 24 shots before being pulled in favor of Tuukka Rask. Rask stopped 11 of 12 shots.

More concerning than the loss was the exit of yet another Bruin to injury. Thirty seconds into the game the Bruins lost star center Marc Savard to what appeared to be a knee injury, and he did not return. This marks the third straight game in which a Bruin has gone down (Patrice Bergeron (hand) in the Rangers game and Andrew Ference (groin) against Ottawa). The B's however did welcome Milan Lucic (ankle) back to the lineup for the first time since late November. Lucic was a bit rusty, but will have to find his bearing quickly with the plethora of injuries.

The Bruins stay home for a bout with the Rangers on Saturday afternoon. The B's lost to the Rangers in New York 3-2 on Monday.
