Despite the news that the Bruins will be without Patrice Bergeron (broken hand) for at least two weeks, the B's came out firing last night. First period goals by Blake Wheeler (2), David Krejci, and Mark Recchi (powerplay) put the Bruins up 4-0, and it was more than enough offense in the 4-1 win. After losing leading scorer Bergeron, it was nice to see the Bruins come out on the offensive in this game.
Tim Thomas started in net after sitting the beginning of the back-to-back, and he remarkably won his 11th straight game against the Senators. Thomas turned away 27 of 28 shots to pick up his 12th win of the season to push his personal record to 12-9-5.
In his Bruins debut Miroslav Satan was +2 in his 14 minutes of ice time. The 35 year old Slovakian (he will be an Olympic teammate of Zdeno Chara), will be eased back into regular playing time but stepped up with the injury to Patrice.
The Bruins head home, but play again Thursday versus the Western Conference powerhouse Chicago Blackhawks. The 30-10-3 Blackhawks sit atop the west, and they beat the B's 5-4 in a shootout last month.
