UPDATED: Bruins Claw Back, Lose. Bergeron Hurt.
**UPDATE** It appears that Bergeron will be out 2-6 weeks according to ESPN. He will meet with a hand specialist later today to get a more firm timetable. Another tough break for the offense that has already lost Savard and Lucic to long-term injuries. In other news, the Bruins get veteran Miroslav Satan on the ice tonight. Satan had 17 goals and 19 assists in 65 games last season for the Penguins. Let's see what he can give us.
Down 2-0 late in the third period, the Bruins scored two goals by Matt Hunwick (shorthanded) and Blake Wheeler within two minutes of each other. Suddenly the Bruins had some hope after looking lackluster the entire game. However, their comeback attempt would go for not, as they surrendered a goal in the final two minutes of regulation, and couldn't even make it to overtime to get a point.
Tuukka Rask got the start in net, as the B's appeared to be saving Tim Thomas for tonight's bout in Ottawa. Rask stopped 32 of 35 shots, but the Bruins needed more from the youngster to stay in last night's game.
A real concern for the Bruins is an injury to the team's best offensive player as Patrice Bergeron injured his hand. A second period shot off of the stick of Dennis Wideman struck Begeron in his hand, and he left the game and did not return. Bergeron flew back to Boston to have the hand evaluated and will not accompany the team to Ottawa. The Bruins rank third to last in the NHL in goals, and they can ill-afford to lose their top scorer.
Quick turnaround as the Bruins play in Ottawa tonight. They will need yet another solid performance from Thomas against the Sens, and they need to find some offense somewhere.
