Bruins Lose in Shootout

Another day, another loss. This is getting repetitive and the Bruins are now 1-8-2 in their last 11 games. After a shootout loss of six rounds, the Bruins fell to the LA Kings for the second time in two weeks.
Marco Sturm scored his 16th goal on a power play in his return to the line-up and tied the game up 1-1 in the second period. Mark Recchi scored his 10th of the season on another power play to start out the third period only to have Tim Thomas relinquish the lead minutes later.

Tim Thomas stopped 27 of 29 shots, and in the shootout he was chaotic and sloppy, giving up goals that he shouldn't have. Michael Ryder netted a shootout goal in the second round to tie it up and Marc Savard dangled for a great goal to give the B's the temporary lead. Tim Thomas gave up a goal and a few rounds later he gave up the winner. The B's inability to capitalize on six rounds of shootout action left Thomas out to dry eventually.

The Bruins do pick up a point, but it would have been nice to see the team get back on the winning track in a game they appeared to be in control of at time. They were 2 of 7 on the power play and only out-shot LA by four despite three more power plays.
