- Former Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel gave impending free agent Vince Wilfork some blunt advice at the Pro Bowl practices this week. Asante, who has a tattoo on his arm that says "get paid", told Vince that the Patriots don't care about their players. The Patriots have a strategic philosophy and Belichick has stood by his guns since he took over the reigns.
- The franchise tag number for a defensive tackle this off-season will be $7 million. Mike Reiss over at ESPNBoston has an interesting idea of how to lock up Big Vince, who said that he'd feel disrespected if the Pats slapped the tag on him.
- The Patriots brought aboard Corwin Brown as the team's new secondary coach. Brown was was a third round draft pick of the Patriots in 1993 and played eight seasons in the NFL (with time under Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick). He coached the defensive backs for the New York Jets from 2004-06 and was most recently the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. With Brown shoring up the secondary, Matt Patricia heading the linebackers, and Pepper Johnson coaching the defensive line, ESPN's Adam Schefter believes the team could go into the season without a true defensive boss to replace Dean Pees. Interesting.
- Last year's tight ends coach Shane Waldron will not be back with the team next season. This will be the third straight season the Patriots will look for a new coach at the tight end position. The 30-year old Waldron should be easily replaceable.
