Celtics Beat Blazers in OT

He's back.

Shooters keep shooting. Down 2 points in the overtime period with under a minute remaining Ray Allen nailed a 3-point shot to put the Celtics up one. Allen was 3-14 on the night and had only 9 points, but he never hesitated as he hoisted up the game-winning shot.

The game really should have never gone to OT, as the C's were winning most of the night. Rondo (19 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, 6 turnovers, 2 steals) missed a wide-open lay-up with the C's up 2 with little time left. The Blazers, minus star Brandon Roy, would hit a shot to tie the game up. With the ball in Paul Pierce's (24 points, 9-13 shooting) hands for the last shot, the captain drove to the hoop and was whistled for an offensive foul with 1.1 seconds left that would leave him fouled out. The Blazers would attempt an alley-hoop that was blocked by Kendrick Perkins (4 points, 1-2 FGs, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks) that would send the game to OT.

You're probably asking, what about Kevin Garnett's return? KG was obviously a bit rusty after missing 10 games, but he had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks while shooting 4-9 from the floor and 5-5 from the line. He impacted the team's play greatly as the team's D held the Blazers to 38% shooting. Also, his return sent Rasheed Wallace back to the bench where he excelled tonight. Sheed had 14 points leading a C's bench that seem rejuvenated on the evening as they put up a 29 spot.

It was a bit disappointing to see the team's second half play tail off a bit again, but the team is back on the winning track. Next up is a Monday game versus the LA Clippers. The C's will be looking for some revenge against a Clippers team that beat the Celtics on a Baron Davis buzzer-beater last month.
