Celtics Lose in Atlanta
The Celtics simply did not deserve to win last night's game in Atlanta. For the second time this season, the Hawks beat the Celtics and continue to be a thorn in the side of Boston. Despite a 6 point halftime lead, the Celtics were outscored by the Hawks 54-40 in the second half to lose by a score of 93-85.
Kevin Garnett was absent again with his hyperextended knee, and the defense suffered; especially in the second half where the Hawks scored at will. Rasheed Wallace has been doing his best to fill in, but on the offensive end, his shot isn't falling (5-15 FGs, 1-8 FTs tonight).
More so, Tony Allen (flu) was out out tonight so the bench was pretty short. Despite the return of Eddie House (flu), Rondo, Pierce, and Allen each played over 40 minutes. Pierce did his best to bring back the Celtics in the fourth, erasing a double digit deficit with 9 straight points, but it wasn't enough.
The Celts head north of the boarder to take on the Raptors Sunday at 1. Yes, that's the same time as the Patriots game, so this game will be looked over by us the viewers. However, the Celtics can get some revenge against the Hawks when they come to Boston for a rematch on Monday night.
Note:
Lester Hudson, who was waived by the Celtics on Wednesday, was claimed by the Memphis Grizzlies. Best of luck Lester!
