Bruins Deadline Deals

GM Peter Chiarelli and the rest of the front office had a busy day today as the Bruins were very active at the trade deadline. Here's a recap of all of the Bruins' moves:

The Boston Bruins & Florida Panthers agreed to a deal.

Bruins receive: Dennis Seidenberg and prospect Matt Bartkowski

Panthers receive: Byron Bitz, Craig Weller, and a 2010 2nd round pick.

Seidenberg will certainly provide depth to a hard-working Bruins defensive line. With two goals and 21 assists this season, Seidenberg certainly has the ability to contribute right off the bat for Boston. The Bruins also got stronger for the future in acquiring Bartkowski. A highly touted prospect from Ohio State, the youngster will hopefully develop into a stud defenseman for the team down the line. The players that the Bruins shipped to Florida in this deal were all players of marginal talent. Each will be replaced on the roster and neither will be too sorely missed.

The Boston Bruins & Phoenix Coyotes have agreed to a deal.

Bruins receive: 2011 4th round draft pick

Coyotes receive: Derek Morris

Morris never seemed quite too comfortable in Boston. After coming over as a free agent acquisition last offseason, he never lived up to expectations of the fans or the front office. The Bruins found a taker for Morris and his salary and were able to snag a 4th round pick out of the deal.

The Boston Bruins & Anaheim Ducks have agreed to a deal.

Bruins receive: Rights to Steven Kampfer

Ducks receive: Either a 2010 or 2011 4th round draft pick

Kampfer led the Michigan defenseman in scoring his senior year (17 pts) which led the Ducks to select him in the 4th round of the 2007 entry draft. The Bruins will hope that the defenseman can find his stride in a new setting.
