It was the pitchers duel predicted in my preview of the series. Lester and Garza were on; though Lester deserved better.
I'm not going to blame Tito for leaving Saito in to try and pitch a second inning. He was the last true bullpen guy out there, and Clay could have done the same thing to Longoria. The kid is a beast and a real ballplayer who killed us twice tonight. I won't even hate on Bard for blowing it in the 8th; he's been too good. I will blame the Sox not working counts and getting into good at-bats like they normally do.
Tomorrow's a new day, and we need Penny to go DEEP into the game (he hasn't pitched 7 innings all year). I can't emphasize enough the necessity of a well-rested pen going into the Bronx.
Lets hope for a split tomorrow... Go Penny (gulp).
