Sox Seven Game Win Streak Snapped
Final 3-3
Another game, another passed ball by Varitek; this time it cost us the game. Beckett had pitched eight innings of three run ball, but this game was ours. After allowing two runs first the first seven we were ahead, Francona sent Beck out there with over 100 pitches (his first questionable move). He proceeded to give up the tying run in the next inning. Wagner then gave up the winning run in the ninth with Papelbon available to pitch in the tie game (Francona's second questionable move).
Jacoby and J-Bay went yard early to give us our three runs. With two outs in the ninth inning though and a runner on first, the Sox curiously pinch-hit Baldelli for Drew while putting Youk as a pinch hitter on-deck though (the third questionable move). Baldelli popped out to end the game.
Get the point? This game was mis-managed in my opinion. We had the chance to put the dagger in the Angels tonight; to sweep them and give them no hope of winning in Fenway in the postseason. Instead the took a close, playoff-type game. We'll be OK, but we had this one.
