Captain Down

Pierce's knee again

The truth sometimes hurts. That is the case here, as Celtics' captain and forward Paul Pierce will be sidelined for about two weeks after getting an infected left knee that required draining, but no surgery according to team owner Wyc Grousbeck. Who knew after his valiant 4th quarter effort last night to lift the C's.

With top backup Marquis Daniels (thumb) already sidelined until around the all-star break with a thumb injury, and the Celtics having a tough stretch of games including Christmas day at Orlando three games in four nights out west, the injury couldn't of come at a worse time.

Tony Allen will now have to step it up big time and Eddie House could see extended minutes at shooting guard. Doc will have to be careful with Ray Allen's minutes as well. Don't be surprised to see young guys J.R. Giddens or Bill Walker, who was just recalled from the D-League after averaging 17.4 PPG 6.4 RPG 1.8 APG in 9 games, have a chance to prove themselves. The fact of the matter is everyone will need to step it up, especially if KG needs additional rest. The injury bug is hitting the C's hard, but this is no excuse for a team that has banner 18 on their mind.

  3. Cowardly leaving that anonymous Foron and 3 days late so no one would see it. I would too though if I lost like that in the finals though so I don;'t blame you.
