Casey Kotchman went deep to put the good guys up 3-1, but it was all down hill from there.
Smoltz missed two Yankee bats on 96 pitches. Lefties are batting over .400 against him. Smoltz to the pen as the long man (Masterson's old spot) when Wake is healthy? How many more turns can we really afford to give him?
Dustin was thrown at twice in the 8th inning of a 13-4 game, the second resulting in him being beamed on the upper arm near the head. You can bet Beckett saw that.
Some other notes:
-The Sox walked 11 times tonight. It resulted in two runs. The other night in Tampa all we were doing was swinging early. Both strategies resulted in losses.
-Jacoby was hot after being moved into the lead-off spot but has only three hits in his last sixteen ABs.
-Lowrie left the game with discomfort in his troublesome wrist.
=Traber did the dirty work pitching 3 2/3 of mop-up duty to save the pen; he was terrible. Look for him to be sent down/designated for assignment before tomorrow's game.
-The Sox were 8-0 against the Yanks on the season coming into the game.
That's three losses in a row. The stopper Beckett toes the rubber tomorrow night.
Go Yanks!!!
