
Paul Byrd pitched better today than Brad Penny did in any start this season. Byrd threw six shutout frames allowing three hit and three walks and struck out one. Delcarmen, Wagner, and Saito finished off the shutout. Billy Wagner struck out the side in his inning of work.
The Sox put up seven runs and have figured Roy Halladay out scoring in each of the first four innings. Every batter had a hit except for Tek this afternoon. Youkilis had three RBIs on the day to bring his season total to 77. Baldelli, filling in for Jason Bay, hit a solo shot in the second inning.

-The Sox are averaging seven runs per game over their last 13 games.
-Texas lost today and the Sox are 3.5 up in the wild card. The Yanks won again and we remain six games back.
-Dice-K got lit up today in a rehab start in Portland giving up five earned runs in two innings. He threw 58 pitches, but did have a 1-2-3 second inning for what it's worth.
-Wakefield will have a cortisone shot in his back Monday. If he responds well he will be lined up for a start next week.
-Tazawa is scheduled to pitch Wednesday. He is allowed to be called back up because the minor league season in the Gulf Coast League is ending.
